ooc: I felt that there should be some more rebellion era RPs. This time I would like it to revolve around Captain Leir Vis' sniper unit. I would like Nik to take on the role of Leir, and any other characters he would like, while I would take charge of Alixia.
ic: Sniper Corps quarters and lounge, Deck 15, Sector 5 of the MC80 Starkiller's Pride.
The comm-system on the way crackles to life.
Marcus: This is General Starkiller to Captain Vis and troops. Report to breifing at once. Starkiller, out.

Leir Vis stirred in her bed, slowly waking up to reality. Tiredly, she checked her bedside chronometer. "Whew, a full two hours of sleep today", she said. "I must be getting lucky". With a halfhearted chuckle, she swung her legs over the mattress, and stood up. A dull pain panged on the side of her head. "Ai, yai, yai.... A headache. Great. That's just wonderful." As she felt her head, she looked around her quarters "Now, where did I put that uniform?" *** "Naw, I dunno'", Sorko replied. "Sure, the ARC-170 was a good ship.... But it's getting old. With the X-Wings and all the other stuff Incom made before the Empire took over, I just don't see why you don't wanna' get something a little more.... Modern...." The other man just smiled. "Well, sometimes, Sorky--" "Don't call me that, Reska", the young soldier said, cutting him off. "You know that I hate that nickname." "All right then," Reska said, "If it bothers you that much.... Anyway, Sorko, sometimes newer doesn't mean better. Take the TIE for example.... Yeah, it's manueverable, but it doesn't have any shields or life support. You get one good blast to the engine and...." A door opened to their right as they were walking down the Sniper Corps quarters hallway. A uniformed, if slightly sleepy-looking woman walked through, tightening her belt clasp. "Captain Vis!", Sorko shouted, coming to attention. Reska follwed suit. "As you were", Leir replied. As the two men relaxed, Captain Vis started walking toward the intership lift, and Reska and Sorko quickly followed suit. "So, uh, what do you think the briefing is about, Captain?", Sorko asked. Leir only kept walking, silent. Sorko spoke again. "There's a rumor goin' around that we found some more Jedi." At this, Leir stopped and turned around. "I suppose that we'll find out, won't we, Sorko? That is, after all, what briefings are for." Sorko blushed, and held his head down. Leir gave the ghost of a smile, and continued down the hall. As she reached the lift, she found several more members of her sniper group waiting for it to arrive. Reska and Sorko came up behind her as the lift doors finally opened, and the company crowded inside. I wonder if there's some coffee left in the Lounge.... It might help my headache...., Leir thought, clutching her head. She looked towards Sorko again, who was talking excitedly and loudly to Reska about modern sublight drives. Make that an expresso, she thought.

Alixia entered the briefing room.
Alixia: Captain Vis, what is this about?
Marcus: I can answer that for her, Commander. The rumors that have been spreading throughout the ship about us finding more Jedi are false. That doesn't mean though that we will not be dealing with survivors of the Order. As some of you may well know, Lamaredd has been somewhat of a Jedi stronghold, being set up by Ivanova's father Horkon. Anyway, we picked up a distress from Horkon. the signal was weak, but from what we got of the message, Lamaredd has been discovered by the Empire. Grand Moff Yotan has taken control of the planet and is currently using three units of Force-sensitive stormtroopers to hunt down and kill the remainig Jedi. Two knights have already fallen to the Imperial advance. I promised Horkon and Zul that their daughter and I would send help. Raptor Squadron will clear the way for you. Any questions?
Alixia: I have one. How do you intent to get us planetside?
Marcus: The local militia uses old Republic surplus left over from the Clone Wars. Therefore, you will be using a LAAT/i that we recovered from our mission to Chaldrana 4. We still need someone to pilot the gunship though.

After hearing this, Leir turned to another member of her sniper group, Nyles Griddom. "Griddom, you can fly, can't you?" The man scrunched up his eyebrows. "Well, yeah.... But, why doesn't somebody else from the flight group do it? Flying isn't my speciality...." Lier gave him a small frown, but understood why he had asked it. This was a group of expert marksmen, not pilots. She turned to General Starkiller, hoping that he would answer.

Marcus: Seeing as how we have no volunteers, and as how Ivanova and I know that planets terrain pretty well, we will pilot the craft. Master Vecto, you have command of Raptor Squad.

Vecto??? Leir quicky searched around the room for the Jedi Master. "Thank you, General." Captain Vis' head turned toward the voice. There he was.... In the corner. Reclusive.... Quiet.... And strong. Leir blushed. Ever since she had first seen him, when the Scarlet Claws had attacked Badgen's Jedi Temple, she had felt a great need in her heart for him. During the fight, her spine was severely injured, and all of the doctors, even the Jedi Masters stationed there, thought that she would remdie within a matter of hours.... All, except for one. Master Vecto had said that he believed in the "Living Force".... Belief in it's natural, unscientific powers. All of the others had resigned to thinking of the Force as little more than a gift bestowed to them by a random grouping of cells called midichlorians. He had healed Leir because of this belief.... And saved her life. General Starkiller's voice brought her back to the matter at hand.

"I have one, General", Lier said. "You said that Yotan had taken control of the planet.... What, exactly, is our plan of attack to retake it?"

Marcus: We aren't trying to retake the planet... not yet atleast. Our mission is to rescue the remaining Jedi, get them off the planet and hopefull without any loses of our own.

ic: Ivanova: We will land at the main starport which was constructed out of a grounded Trade Federation freighter. it is known as Bartyn's Landing.
ooc: (Taken from Star Wars Gamer #7)
Lastly, we have the two gems of the issue. This issue features a polybagged-in map of a place called Bartyn's Landing on Lamaredd. What the heck is that, you ask? Well, it is a full-fledged campaign setting with a rich history of economic exploitation that is covered in the immense article entitled Bartyn's Landing, early in the magazine. The massive 17-page article lays the foundation for the history, denizens, locations, and general nature of the Bartyn's Landing settlement (located, amusingly, around a purposely downed Neimoidian vessel). The article is rich in details, as its length implies, and could make a great addition to any campaign . . . but what's more interesting is that the folks behind Gamer have already taken the time to create a starting adventure for us to begin a Bartyn's Landing campaign with. The adventure, entitled Reckonings, spans 18 pages (holy menacing Menahuun, Bartyn-man!), and takes players on a mission to stop conflict between the residents of the Landing and the sentient native Menahuun, but also provides several routes out of the story, setting up plenty of different ways for players to continue this campaign on their own.

Leir spoke up, quietly at first. "About the Force-Sensitive Stormtroopers.... How are we going to deal with them? Won't we need a Jedi to fight them?" As she said this last part, she glanced at Nik, still silent in his corner.
