Second Life would be another MMORPG, only by itself, its not really a Game. A game has a definate premise, setting some rules, am objective or goal, a finite number of strategy and ways to win. Second Life has none of that. Because those would be limits. Second life does not have a content team that makes up repetative quests, or create new skills for you to spend XP on. Second Life has no experience points, because those limit creativity.
What does Second Life have? As Master Yoda would say "Only what you bring in with you", well, that and what you make once you get in. Second Life offers a freedom no other MMOG offers, freedom to make it whatever you want it to be. Second life one feature MMORGs will never have, the ability to make your own truly unique items. If you want to be a wolf with Edward Scissorhads on your paws wearing a pink 50's carhop outfit with roller blades and a baby binky, you can. If you want to be a purple infalatable toy horsie, you can. I know, I've met both and a lot of other interesting folks too. Pretty much if you can imagine it, you can build it, but most of the time, if it's from popular entertainment media outlets someone else has already built it and is selling it somewhere. Everything from under a foot tall 'tiny' animals to a 40' tall macro wolf. Don't get me wrong, the furries aren't the only ones building things in the game, i'm just using Furry examples because that is what we all are into. Most of the game isn't furry, but there are a whole lot of furs who represent one of the major subcultures in Second Life.
Want to Roleplay Star Wars and Star Trek in 3D, but can't stand(or afford) Star Wars Galaxies or can't wait until Christmas 2008 for the Star Trek MMOG? Great, there are at least three seperate groups for both Star Trek and Star Wars Roleplaying. In fact... I'm starting up a Star Trek RPG for Furries Only group myself (along with a heavy set female hyena from the UK)... Go Figure.
