Medusa Class Cruiser The Medusa class was designed as a cruiser meant to take on the battleship role if necessary. Though nothing compared to the Battle Wagon, this ship is in no means small business either. It has an assortment of lasers and ballistic weaponry, but its main weapons are its 20 missile batteries that, when combined in one salvo can easily maim or cripple its target. Besides its armament, the Medusa is a sturdy troop carrier and is able to carry a brigade of soldiers wherever it goes to provide troop support. The Medusa also has a number of bays in which is capable of providing enough aircraft for its own planet campaign.

Neptune Class Corvette The Neptune class is the Federations smallest ship. It is very maneuverable and is often used with Special Forces units in hopping from one hotspot o the next. The Neptune has no bays for fighters, and only carries two drop ships for landing and extracting troops. The Neptune's best advantage is speed and being able to avoid engagement most of the time. But the Neptune has been known to stand up to a capital ship is deployed in packs. But most times, it is good for anti-fighter support at most.

Battlefield Midway Class Destroyer When the Federation entered the war, they found the widely used Star class ships to be poorly armored and not able to defend themselves while carrying soldiers from one battle zone to the next. After the fleets’ disaster at Klendathu, the fleet realized that a better version of the Star class had to be built if the Federation was going to win. Enter the BFM, a redesigned version of the Star class. The BFM destroyers are not able to transport whole regiments of troops, as the Starships were. But what they lacked, they made up in firepower and survivability. The BFM is able to carry two squadrons of fighter craft for escort, or for air support to ground troops. With its weapons and an improved armored hull, the BFM is a good escort to fill in the destroyer roll.

Star Class Carrier Variant The second variant of the Star class is a carrier. The ship sacrifices weapons and troop bays for hangers and fuel. The ship may also be as fragile as its sister ships, but for a carrier, it doesn’t matter, as they shouldn’t be in the middle of fighting anyways. The carrier has several armored hangers replacing gun ports, and also two connecting hangers on the top part where fighter craft can be scrambled if the ship comes under attack and the ship can’t risk opening its armored hanger doors for fear of stray beams hitting the cargo.

Star Class Battle Variant The main ship type for the Federation is the Star Class. The design might be ancient dating back almost to the first interstellar flight from Earth to Pluto, but the ship itself is very modern indeed. Equipped with Hyper drive engines, and the best technology; the Star class is the pride of the Federation. However not everyone sees them that way, especially the sailors on the ship. For the Star class has a severe lack of armor protection that can stand up to most small fire, but is easily penetrated by heavy weapons fire. This was made sickeningly clear after the first battle of Klendathu when a entire federation invasion fleet got ripped to shreds when they found that the bug plasma was able to rip clean through there ships. The Battleship Variant is not really a battleship, but a Star class variant with some weapons for protection, mostly for anti-fighter use.

Geneva Class Battlecruiser When war broke out first, the Federation had no heavy battleships that could tango with the bugs. As the war drew on, a design came across for a battlecruiser that could fight as well as a battleship, yet still cost less and was faster. The Geneva class has seen much action in skirmishes and minor engagements, being able to go 3 on 1 with bug light capital ships and winning without severe damage. The Geneva also has ample bays for fighter and bombers. Able to carry several wings, they will almost never be out of fighter cover. Accounting its thick armor and compact design, the ship has had a habit of fighting on even when it should have been knocked out. Thanks to its unique armor design that allows for the hull to take extensive damage without crumpling. For offensive purposes, the Geneva has an impressive array of weapons. From rail guns, to missile batteries, a couple pulse laser batteries, and 4 Sanctuary made MAC guns that can pass straight through entire battleships with the massive rounds. With all these weapons, and features, the Geneva lives up to its name as "The Peacemaker".

Athena Class Assault Carrier As the war drew on, the Federation realized that they needed a new ship to replace the Star class. It would become the mainstay of the fleets and would help in the war. The design was given top priority and equipped with the most modern technology, some even experimental. The results were greater then imagined. Enter the Athena, a ship that can deliver troops around the galaxy and launch invasions, while still being able to hold its own in ship battles. The Athena comes in only one variant, unlike the old Star class, but it was meant to do the jobs of troop transport, fleet carrier, and warship all in one package. Its weapons are mostly meant for anti-fighter use, but it has the ability to take out ships and provide ground support if needed be. The Only weakness of the Athena is its speed and range. The power plants were simply not powerful enough to make the Athena very mobile so it is a sitting duck for long range ordnance.

TAC Fighter Bomber The TAC (Tactical) fighter bomber is the main aerospace fighter of the Federation’s Fleets. It can both drop bombs and still tango with other enemy fighters, though it is no as maneuverable in atmospheric flight as some of the other fighters, pilots love it for one reason alone: Survivability. The TAC Fighter Bomber has a tough armor shell made from Adamantium composite steel which it used for ship armor plates. The fighter can take crippling damage and still manage to make it back to friendly territory. Some have looked into the history books, and began calling it the A-10 Warthog of the modern era. However, the name only works with the pilots, as the current model of the TAC is the “Thunderbolt V”.

Bug Fighter What is this mysterious fighter? Some have known it as a dragonfly bug, others a fly, but one thing is clear, this thing is a pest. Highly maneuverable, and deadly with some type of emitter beam that it fires from its eyes. The beams are completely mysterious as to how they are created, and how they are able to light up in space, as most lasers are invisible and too fast for the naked eye to see. Though the lasers are not powerful enough to punch through the thick hulls of starships, swarms of them can overwhelm firing computers with their erratic movements and the lasers firing everywhere. One positive note on this is that the fighters have been found hard to hit, but go off like a firecracker when they are barely touched. It is estimated this is because of the instability of the particles that make up its main lasers.

Bug Cruiser Not much is known about this ship, as only recently have bug capital ships begun appearing. But what little is known about the ship is terrifying enough. Scientists have found pieces of one of the ships and came up with the horror of that the ship is one living bug, with many other smaller bugs acting as its turrets, or its escorts. Broaching upon how far bug genetic engineering has come, the thought is mind blowing. No major fleet engagements have been fought with them yet, but the fleet is taking no chances and preparing for whatever the ship will throw at them.

Bug Destroyer Even before the war started, colonies or convoys of ships were attacked by what the survivors called “Glowing Hornets”. Though the bug destroyer is in no way shaped like one, it is fast like one. Able to maneuver like a fighter, bug tough enough to fight capital ships, the destroyer is something to be feared. It fires some kind of bio-laser that can melt through armor with ease. Its only weakness is its weak armored shell that means one well placed shot can tear it to pieces. Not much else is known except for that the Destroyers usually travel in packs of 3 or 4, so if you see one, don’t think it’s alone. Many Federation ships were lost to bug ships playing dead in space.

Bug Defender Not much information is on this mysterious ship except for two things: It is slow, but very dangerous. Defenders were first seen at Klendathu, and there they made their presence felt. They have a tough outer shell which seems to be made of the asteroids that surround Klendathu. The fleet took no chances and let loose with everything they had. The defenders were incinerated in the nuclear blast waves, so their weapons still remain a mystery. The defender may be slow, but that is the bug’s nature, and it will be planet shaking if fleets of these ships went on the offensive.
