A Jedi will sometimes find himself in a situation when attack is imminent. On every side, his foes surround him, hanging on the periphery, attacking from the distance and darting in at every opportunity. The Jedi has many skills and powers that allow him to achieve mastery in combat, but in such extreme conditions, the attacks can come from unexpected directions. In such times, the Jedi draws on his combat training and his Force attunement, keeping his mind sharp, his senses alert, and his lightsaber ready. He uses relaxation techniques on his muscles and deep breathing to keep himself calm, and waits for the enemy to strike. This state of mind is similar to the Jedi battle mind, where a Jedi uses the Force to power his muscles and reactions in combat. A Jedi trained in the battle mind is also excellent under stress, and with his disciplines and combat training, he can wait out the storm and survive against impossible odds.
