Today, I received a gift from the students that I help tutor at the school I work for; a copy of the Iliad, and a small glass step pyramid (we were reading ancient Greek and Egyptian myths). A few months ago, I got thank you letters from lower elementary, thanking me for giving them small stuffed animals for Valentine's Day (which I had won from a claw machine). I cannot put to words, how much that all means to me.

There are fewer things more rewarding than caring like that in the eyes of a student, I think.... Great work, dude....

Having experience in the teaching field (Sunday School back at Congregation B'nai Jehudah), I can say that you're right, Nik.
Ah, the joy of knowing that a child can go home and happily show their parents all kinds of neat things.

I used to be a Reading Buddy(An upper-grade student who reads to the lower ones) and a teacher-assistant for one of my favorite grade-school teachers. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
