...I plan on getting my own message board, though that might not be for a while, most likely.
Basically, I like BattleTech/MechWarrior, and I like furries. It was only a matter of time before I combined the two. I still need to hammer out the details, but I plan on starting my own Furry MechWarrior message board sometime next year, if I am lucky.

Setting up a message board is easy. I could set you one up in a about an hour or so. The hardest part is getting people there and building an active community. My TrekFur forums are still struggling despite representing a Second Life Community of over 75... The biggest question you should be pondering is probably going to be where would you go to find Battletech fans who like Furry and Furries who like Battletech roleplaying.

Indeed, the hardest part will be the recruiting of people to join my site and getting them to post at least semi-regularly. But another hard part will be finding time to manage the site; right now, I don't have much free time.

Managing doesn't take much time if you don't have people posting. If you don't post, they won't post. Let me know when you have time to get this going, I think I can help. }}

Thanks, Steedo.
Before I get the actual board going, I am going to think about how I want it structured, along with what kind of forums to put on it. I should have a good idea by the weekend.

Check out the software we are using for our Trek Fur forums. It's powerful, easy to use and best of all free. Edit: Fixed URL

Odd, the link doesn't work, because one of the "/" is "\;" but now that I solved that problem, I will go and take a look at the site. From what I see immedeately, it looks cool.

Oops, you are right... I fixed the link. Mostly I wanted you to take a look at the software. I could set you up with a board like that for nothing. The technical forum stuff is pretty easy o deal with,
But I think you'll have a lot more trouble getting people excited about a Furry Battletech universe. Not only is Battletech a lot less popular than Star Trek and Star Wars... But it just doesn't make a lot of difference if the Mechwarriors are Furries or not that it does for Trek and Wars where there is a lot more emphasis on alien species. There never were any aliens in BattleTech\Mechwarrior.
For what it is worth I talked to one of my friends that is into both and he wasn't very interested in combining the two. I have one other friend I know of that might be interested... But it's not looking very good.

Eh, I'm starting to think that the world is not ready for a Furry BT/MW board. But I still would like to have a message board of some sort.
If I can get my ideas together (and when they are copyrighted), I'm thinking about perhaps using one of my own genres as a message board possibility.

Unfortunately you are probably right about Furry Mechwarriors.
Works are automatically copyrighted, even before they are published. If they are published they really will need the standard (C) line... Unpublished works have greater protection, since any infringement before you publish causes far more damages.
I upgraded my board a little... So there is much goodness.

I may be wrong. I just found a group of 20 Furry Mechwarriors in Second Life.

Really? That's very interesting. Isn't the Internet (and Second Life) dandy for when you want to look for people with common interests?
Which reminds me, I still need to start an account on Second Life. Why, oh why must I have so little free time?
