I just thought of a way to eliminate all these online businesses that sell virtual items for real cash in MMORPG's: endorse them! Let's face it, they are going to do that anyways, so by going with the flow and making money off of it, everybody wins! So when the time comes and I have my own MMORPG for sale, that's what I will do with the virtual salespeople. Ah yes, I AM a diet coke b****** of business.
;D
DISCLAIMER: I am not really a b******; my parents where married to each other for a few years before I was born. And no, I do not drink diet coke.

I suppose it's different in Second Life, since it's not a 'game', just a 'world'. This virtual items for sale in Second life have real value because, while the items are virtual, the economy is real. There is no artificial supply and demand.

Mwa ha ha! I just made 10 gold a few days ago on WoW putting some gems that I accumulated before the expansion on the Auction House. If I want to, I can probably easily make a 100 gold in a few hours if I go all out with my inventory (which I will NOT be doing; I need those gems for various recipes). If only I stayed on my old server rather than experiment on a new one; I easily WOULD have made 100 gold that day, perhaps even more!

I never really jumped on the WoW bandwagon. I would have, except for the money problem. But, hey. Guild Wars is good enough for me.
