The Mark II reactor drone was a heavily-shielded utility droid designed to perform menial labor duties. Their bulky, armored frames made these droids appear cumbersome.
During production of their R1-series astromech droid, Industrial Automaton saved costs by reusing the shells of Mark II reactor drones for their R1 astromechs.
