In order to keep up with the new series of fighters that the Republic was producing, the Nyhan developed the Brave-class fighter. Equipped with shields and a hyperdrive, this ship would have been nearly equal to what the Republic would have been able to produce, had the Republic continued production of non-expendable craft. With the rise of the Galactic Empire, this fighter turned out to be far superior to the TIE series of craft produced.
