Species name:Ta'alib
Homeworld: Shinju
Language: Galactic Standard Basic
Average height 1.8 to 2.1 meters
Fur color: Various shades of blue
Distinctions: Vulpine, enhanced senses, increased speed.
Races: Three (distinguished by hair and eye color) Ta'ala with black hair and purple eyes. Talib with dark blue hair with golden-yellow eyes. Tablin with medium blue hair and green eyes.
Famous members: Empress Bluefur IV, Baron Moldrea, Senator Vixx Zen, Admiral Azurla Fen
The Ta'alib hail from the Mid Rim planet of Shinju. Shinju has a somewhat arctic climate, so it resembles a pearl in appearance from space, due to the snow from it's year round winters. The government is a controlled gynarchal system of leadership.
During the New Sith Wars (2000 BBY - 1000 BBY), in the year 1853 BBY, the Sith invaded Shinju and killed off most of the male population. In order for the species to survive, Ta'alib scientists re engineered all surviving females to be able to be impregnated by either sex (male or female).

I would be most happy if others could help add to this species, info wise.

Ta'alib Colonies:
In the year 1823 BBY the Shinju government, still recovering from the Sith invasion, determined that if the Sith or some other genocidal race returned they would not settle for merely killing off one gender, they would likely wipe out the entire species. To avoid extinction it was decided to establish a colony in another star system that may escape the fate of the homeworld. Being from an arctic planet they looked for uninhabited ice worlds to place this colony, they settled on Hoth, figuring that the orbiting asteroid field would help impede invasion attempts. However those asteroids also impeded their supply transports and the small settlement struggled, many colonists dying from exposure to the extreme cold or wampa attacks. Within ten years the project was scrapped and the survivors were evacuated, the planet abandoned.
However, in the 15th century Before the Battle of Yavin Shinju's population had rebounded and the government was starting to worry about outstripping the planet's resources. The colonization proposal was revisited but this time they chose a planet with fewer navigational hazards and hostile native life forms, in fact the planet they chose was utterly devoid of life. Shinju Tertius, as they chose to name it, was so cold that the colonists could not venture outside without sealed environment suits, they had to build underground cities, however they had a plan to terraform the planet and make it into a replica of their homeworld. Using orbital mirrors resembling those above Coruscant's poles to raise the temperature, atmosphere generators to make the air breatheable, and genetically engineered plants and animals to establish an ecosystem they slowly made it liveable over the next thousand years. When they were done the planet was still significantly colder than Shinju Prime but the colonists had built several settlements on the surface and could go outside without protective gear during summers at the equator.
At the time of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion Shinju Tertius held a quarter of the Ta'alib population and a number of minor colonies collectively held another quarter of the species. Unfortunately a side branch of the invasion came to Tertius and deorbited their satellite mirrors, many of them crashing into cities. The surface population, by then the majority of Tertius's inhabitants, flooded into the long-neglected underground as the temperatures dropped. Eventually, they were able to rebuild the satellites and reverse the cooling, but at great cost and many of the insulated surface homes and farms still needed to be rebuilt. The homeworld and secondary colonies couldn't handle the overflow so the underground remained overcrowded while new housing was constructed. The Imperial Mission was instrumental in the reconstruction and feeding the displaced.
During Project Ossus the Tertius government rejected offers to help terraform the planet on the large scale but they tentatively accepted an offer to move the world slightly closer to its sun with dovin basals. When the Sith's sabotage became apparent the planet's orbiting solar mirrors were repurposed as directed energy weapons to vaporize the dovin basals and establish quarantine zones on world. In the Legacy era Shinju Tertius has a breathable atmosphere and a struggling ecosystem but even Ta'alib should only go outside wearing heavy winter gear.
