The Praxis Project is based on the idea of no longer needing hyperspace to travel from one destination to another, instead they use a device that opens an artificial wormhole they travel through, which also is used as a weapon.

hardly armed the ship has 2 experimental drives
one is the sublight drive which is like a giant magnetic field and the second is an artificial wormdrive
