As repulsortank deployments are becoming more common on both sides of the Civil War, Army infantry are having difficulty eliminating Rebel tanks. Laser cannons, while very accurate and powerful, are much too large for field troops to use. Protorps and guided missiles are too expensive. After extensive battlefield testing, the PAT-8C "Tsurugi" Portable Anti-Tank Missile Launcher was developed.
The Tsurugi is a dumbfire launcher that requires no lock-on or aiming of any kind beyond pointing the missile at the target. It comes with a holographic HUD targeting reticle, but has no fire control of any sort. Though this drastically reduces its effectiveness against rapidly-moving targets, the Tsurugi is still effective against slower speeders, walkers, and tanks.
With two missiles to launch, the Tsurugi has the ability to destroy two targets (or put down the primary one if the first missile missed). Though this seems like a small number, field testing has shown that one hit from the Tsurugi's missile will almost always destroy a target. With that, and it's unusually long range for a dumbfire missile (6km max), the Tsurugi has an incredibly high sucess rate.
Tactical Deployment: It is recommended that the Tsurugi be carried by a squad's heavy weapons specialist. This weapon can also be used by an entire squad or platoon in large anti-tank engagements. Tank support infantry also use this weapon frequently.
Model: IMS' PAT-8C "Tsurugi" Portable Anti-Tank Missile Launcher
Type: Portable heavy anti-speeder missile
Scale: Speeder
Skill: Missile weapons: Tsurugi
Ammo: 2 (one in chamber and one attached to outside)
Cost: 1,500 (launcher), 250 (rocket)
Availability: 3, R
Range: 100-500/2.0/6.0km
Damage: 6D
Game Notes: When launching, the missile causes severe burning damage from its engine in the rear. The user must make a Moderate DEX roll or take 3D damage.
