To combat the effectiveness of the battle armor wore by Imperial Storm Troopers the Rebel Alliance thought a projectile weapon may be effective. They developed the Carbonite/Blaster Weapon System. The weapon used compressed powdered carbonite in a magazine in the pistol grip. The weapon drew small amounts of the carbonite into the firing chamber that was fused into solid form when fired. This system allowed for projectiles of various shapes and velocities to be fired. All adjustable by the operator. The small unit on the right side is a standard pistol blaster.
