The ‘Drew’ repeater became popular after the Empire had been formed. The repeater has a very powerful punch and is light enough to fire without any support. It is a combination of an automatic rifle and a sub-machine gun. With its limited range, deadly firepower and relatively small size and weight makes it a great urban weapon. The weapon was made to fire with two hands. It employs a massive barrel that keeps overheating down. Because it does not use a stock, the weapon is not very accurate due to ‘climb’ when the repeater is fired for any length of time. Merr-Sonn came out with the weapon at the end of the Clone Wars. However the Empire was already coming to power and had already awarded BlasTech with the Standard Army Rifle contract. Merr-Sonn made this weapon available to the commercial market, making it one of the few light repeaters readily available on the market. It instantly showed up in pirates, gangs and criminal syndicates.
