Qua'tale - Jedi Protective Vest

This is a lightweight padded vest bestowed by the Jedi Council upon Jedi Padawans and Jedi Knights who have shown incredible bravery and self-sacrifice against overwhelming odds. The origin of the Qua'tale is that it was a crude armor fashioned by a Jedi Knight, Salin Veers, on the remote world of Navesh. While investigating a distress signal from the Republic colony on that world, 5 Jedi Knights and their Padawans were attacked by an indiginous, war-like species. Four of the five knights fell in the initial battle and Salin led the Padawans to safety in the colony base camp. As a token of respect and protection he fashioned lightweight armor to be worn by the Padawans before the horde attacked the colony. The Jedi fought valiantly to defend the survivors from the marauders but as a Republic rescue ship arrived, Salin and the Padawans stayed at their positions and fell in battle giving enough time for the colonists to be saved. The Jedi Council rarely presents individuals with Qua'tales and it is considered a great honor to receive one of these custom built vests. Not only does it provide a Padawan or Knight extra defense but it is also an object lesson as to the virtues of a Jedi both past and present. It is considered highly dishonorable for a Jedi Master to wear a Qua'tale as it is intended for Jedi who have not mastered complete control of the Force.
