...of people who only care about making money and include in cards that have no use whatsoever just to fill up each set. Seriously, I took a good long look at most of the cards that I have from previous sets from long ago, and I have discovered something: these cards are (censord)! What were these guys at Wizards of the Coast thinking? Anyways, this injustice has inspired me to create a card game of my own. Once I have it written down, I'll share it with you guys.

Still, this game still has a certain appeal to me, which means that I will be getting 9th Edition when it comes out this coming friday. To my knowledge, it has a bunch of good, non-filler cards, since it's a reprint of all the good cards from the original sets that were released.
What I like about the Magic: the Gathering cards from Exodus and later sets is that the icons that tell you what set the card is from are now color-coded according to rarity (black = common, silver = uncommon, gold = rare).
I remember when the Beta Black Lotus card (worth more than the Alpha Black Lotus card for some reason) was around $350.00; now it's WELL over $1k. I don't know why, as it's not THAT good, since you can only have one in your deck at a time.

Speaking of Magic: The Gathering, there's a series of books about it. I was reading the Weatherlight saga, until I found out that they killed off my favorite character in the first book of the series. That pretty much killed off my wanting to read the rest of the series. I still run imaginary campaigns in my head where I'm able to save my favorite character, along with a few others who died.

The old cards themselves aren't crap, it's just that newer cards, abilities, and eratta have made them less what they were. I would love to see goblin grenades return, because I have a goblin deck that is just PERFECT for them.
As for the cost, why else would a card over fifteen years old be worth money? It's freaking ancient.
