Badgen is my main achievement in terms of my contribution to the Star Wars universe. I have been developing histories, characters, and the very geography of the planet itself, and there is much more information to come. Please enjoy what I have now, and I will add more later.
Name: Badgen
Type: Terrestrial
Temperature: Temperate
Atmosphere: Type 1
Hydrosphere: Moderate
Gravity: Standard
Terrain: Varied (but nearly 76% forest)
Length of Day: 28 hrs.
Length of Year: 295
Sapient Species: Badgenese(Also known as "Badgenites", or "Brownies"--Derogatory)
Starport: Stellar
Population: 5 1/2 Billion
Planet Function: Homeworld, Manufacture, Agriculture, Jedi Temple site
Government: Democracy- All countries contain their own states, while all countries are states to the Unified Nations of Badgen.
Tech Level: Star Travel
Major Exports: Selected plantlife, tree seeds, soil, pure water, Recycling technologies, Holomovies, fighters, and other vessels.
Major Imports: Corellian lightspeed engines, metal ores, and tourism.
Description: Badgen is one of the most independent planets in the known galaxy. Only actually requiring certain metal ores and the famous Corellian lightspeed engines for its starships, it had sustained itself for many millennia before making First Contact with a Jedi dignitary during the early days of the Old Republic. Full of plant and animal life, Badgen has long intrigued scientists, archaeologists, and tourists in studying its ancient life.
The first known civilizations of Badgen appeared in the upper hemisphere, along the southern shoreline of what is now the country of Ryanne, a part of the Delek Confederacy. They made trees thier homes , hollowing them out and burning the insides so as to get a large living space. Other civilizations arrived in the Great West, establishing trade with each other and forming the first union between tribes on Badgen. They proceeded through time, entering thier own Industrial Age early in thier history. However, as the planet is nearly completely covered by forest, they were always careful and knowledgable with thier environment, and did not face industrial ruin like so many other planets. They achieved reliable star travel less than 100 years after pioneering thier first fossil fuel engine.
When the Jedi Knight Zoff discovered Badgen, he immediately contacted the young Jedi Council, and asked to begin First Contact so that it could be added to the Republic. Zoff recognized the tranquil nature of the planet, and thought that it would be an exceptional location for a Jedi temple. The Badgenese had only one condition for this: That the Jedi Order always station six Jedi Masters(Six being a holy number in Badgenese religion and mythology) on Badgen to train the Badgenese students. Religous leaders were very adamant about giving these students of the Force an imprint by thier home environment, thought to increase Force potential just by being born there. Also, they did not want the student completely severed from thier native land and denied the joys of the forest. The Jedi agreed, and the Jedi Temple of Badgen was constructed.
Several decades passed, and the Badgenese Jedi trained as harmoniously and as free of the Dark Side as any Master could hope. But one Jedi, Mazz, fell to the dark side in his pursuit of weapon sciences. He developed a powerful chemical weapon that could have wiped out the entire planet's population, and threatened to use it if the Republic did not give in to his demands. Another Jedi named Marik Klevin defeated the fallen Jedi, and sent the weapon into space.
Badgen, like any other world, has had its fair share of wars; yet, in the wake of all this history, they have emerged as a healthy space faring civilization, and a valuable addition to the galaxy, creating fine ships, and producing some of the most beautiful forests and vacation destinations in the entire galaxy. There are more stories to tell of this great world, and many that have yet to be discovered....
