I use the name "Cyberpaladin85" for a lot of stuff, but right now, I feel that it's not really original of me to use the same name over and over again. Therefore, I'm considering changing the name I use here on the board.
The two choices that stand out right now are Varick Hadar, my main Star Wars character, and Omar Shamir, a "RIFTS" character that I never got a chance to play. So then, which of the two sounds better?
Perhaps you would like to know more about the two characters? Well, Varick's bio is in the Bio Center, but Omar's is not, so I guess I should tell you about him.
Omar Shamir is a free-born Coalition States Battle Cat, meaning he was born to runaways from the CS mutant creation and brainwashing program; as such, he has no bar-code I.D. or identification chip implanted on his body. He is a Techno-Wizard, which is a mage who combines the twin sciences of magic and technology. Being a freeborn marks you for a death sentence. Being a mage marks you for a death sentence. Being both is just plain suicide.
Unusually weak (for a Battle Cat), he relies on his smarts and ingenuity to survive in combat. He also has a crush on the other Battle Cat in the group. Being a good man, he can't stand to see the CS brutalize innocent people, so he protects them whenever he encounters injustice.
Who are the Coalition States? Well, imagine the Imperials from Star Wars; now imagine them incompetent, mostly illiterate, and totally genocidal, and you've got how the CS is like! Which is why one of the first thing I do if I ever get my homebrew game off of the ground is give the CS some smarts.
