During the assault on the underwater cities of the Gungans, the Trade Federation not only employed water-bound vehicles, but also individual battle droids outfitted with the capability to travel and engage in combat underwater. They became an asset in that they were able to travel to some places that the larger vehicles could not, and investigate potential hiding spots of the Gungans. Additionally, they were designed to be somewhat amphibious, and can walk on land and use a blaster as any normal battle droid. However, they are significantly slower on land than in the water, and decidedly more awkward. They possess a pair of turbines to propel them through the water, and their shoulder-mounted microtorpedo launchers give them an edge in underwater combat.
