These fighters were not issued beyond the testing phase because of the very high cost, but the few that were built were requisitioned by high ranked Imperial pilots and agents who loved the fact that Sienar had finally built a starfighter that totally outclassed the Republic in every way. Had the fighter continued into mass production Sienar had intended for a variant to contain a cloaking device, and the few demonstration fighters have the fittings for one to be mounted, rumours exist that some of this variant exist but of course no evidence has been found of this, although obviously if such a fighter did exist then it would be even more lethal than this design already is.

Developed just after the destruction of the first Death Star, the TIE Oppressor was deployed in limited numbers among selected units of the Imperial starfighter cadre elite. It was an attempt to build a variant of the standard TIE hull that could carry heavy weapon payloads with sufficient armor and shielding to allow the ship to operate in the vanguard of an Imperial assault force. It also had enough solar array surface to assist in generation of the energy needed to power it all. All of the offensive and defensive equipment packed into the Oppressor came at the cost of space for engine installations. Although most Imperial fighters were designed to have superior maneuverability, this was a trait in which the TIE Oppressor was rated by most of its pilots as merely average. This lack of dizzying maneuverability was a result of the Oppressor mounting the same basic engine arrangement as seen on earlier TIE starfighter types, but with its thrust sapped by much heavier and more solid spaceframe. In return for the deficits in combat maneuvering capability, the Oppressor carried one of the most potent offensive and defensive packages fielded in any Imperial starfighter spaceframe at the time. Only skilled veteran TIE Fighter pilots are now being allowed to opporate the Oppressors. Only these personnel are deemed to have the tactical know-how to properly employ the ship as well as the loyalty to be trusted with such an expensive flight article. Although the TIE Oppressor is currently serving in the fleet as a 'Limited Production Craft', the actual number of fighters being fielded would make most Rebel officers wince.

This fighter, although not a great improvement over the standard TIE, is a two man patrol vessel with improved range, sensors and weapons. Designed to scout out enemy fleets for attack by Star Destroyers and other capital ships, the Sentinel was labelled "The Emperors Eyes", but slowly found itself sidelined as normal TIE's were used for its role. Sentinels continued to be used for a while as gunships, the two man crew controlling the two turrets mounted on the fighter, the heavy twin turret on the fighters spine usually controlled by the second crew member, and the single laser cannon mounted on its belly usually controlled by the pilot. Sentinels remain in use on the fringe of Imperial Territory, where their flexibility remains a large advantage, but most of these vessels have been retired and they are rarely seen in operation.

This meant that the Empire had to map new hyperspace routes, a job they used the old Mu class scouts for, but they weren't really suited. So once again the Empire approched Sienar Fleet Systems for a new vessel, what SFS did was reworked the Lone Scout design, upgrading it from civilian to military with more powerful weapons, sensors and engines. This suited the Empire perfectly, and they started to phase out the Mu class as soon as Tie Scouts became available.

The Air Cruiser is basically a heavily armoured Aerial vehicle with extremely powerful weapons mounted on it, the Turbolaser cannon is capable of large amounts of damage although has a slow recharge rate, being mainly used to smash enemy installations or to destroy entire columns of enemy troops, but is equally good at disabling enemy starships and destroying transports. The Proton Bomb Launcher is similar to that on TIE Bombers, and is a long ranged weapon capable of heavy damage to opponents, and is used as a backup weapon capable of firing more often than the Turbolaser. Air Cruisers obviously need protected due to their erratic fire rate and ammunition capacity, but used properly can swing the scales on the battlefield, however due to their expence the Empire has fielded only very few of these vessels, much prefering to use cheaper more disposable equipment and vehicles.

TIE/MFP (Multi Function Platform) This is the TIE/MFP (Multi Function Platform). It is a platform for mounting deferent kinds of modular units, allowing the ship to perform several functions for the Empire. It is configured as a Heavy Fighter. The ship has a Co-pilot / Tail gunner to help with the ships systems and keep fighters off their back. It is armed with turbolasers units on both sides of the cockpit between the pylons. Those are the side mount points. The ship also has two square mounting points on the bottom and one square mount point on top of the cockpit. With all the mount points the ship is designed to be configured in many different ways. With Mine Deployment Units mounted it can put down a mine field. With Scientific Equipment mounted it can do Recon / Spy missions. As modular units are added the ships mass/weight increases, slowing it's acceleration and maneuverability. This makes it a poor fighter-to-fighter ship; instead it is used to fight big things like Destroyers and Space Stations.

TIE/Ion - Fast Pursuit (I-FP) The TIE/I-FP is a fast pursuit variant armed with a very powerful ION cannon and provided with an interior life support system. This craft is mainly used for planetary patrols and enforcement of blockades. The large ion cannon can disable most freighter craft in seconds. However the massive power demands give this craft a fatal weak spot: the power cell is lightly armored on the and housed on the opposite 'wing'. The cannon also can overcharge and cease functioning so this craft's Ion cannon has its displacement foils extended to bleed off any excess energy. The TIE Ion-Fast pursuit craft has a large drive mounted to the rear and a second on the underside of the pod allowing for drastic direction changes and jump jet-like hovering.

TIE/Infiltrator Designed as a reconnaissance vessel the TIE/Infiltrator was built around a tri-panel configuration to promote maximum sensor exposure during intelligence gathering missions. It incorporates two sensor pods mounted on either side of the cockpit, an optical sensor array underneath, and various sensors throughout the remainder of the ship. The current configuration has the ability to deploy up to two Mk 157 Data Retrieval Pods to forward collected data in the event the craft is unable to do so, and two remote surveillance probes. The oversized ion engine provides the speed required for hit-and-run mission tactics with only one laser cannon available for defense.

TIE/Commander The TIE/Commander is a heavy assault fighter designed to combat the Rebels B-wing fighter. It's agility and firepower help compensate for the lack of top end speed. Due to the specialized launch racks needed, the TIE-C is primarily based on orbital platforms. However, a few Super Star Destroyers have been outfitted with the necessary equipment.

TIE/Long Range (LR) The TIE/Long Range was designed to enable pursuit of fleeing craft. When a craft enters hyperspace, the fleet craft can pursue it, leaving the TIE/LRs to mop up any stragglers, then rejoin the fleet or return to its base. The TIE/LR has a top speed in excess of an A-wing fighter and is fully hyperspace capable.

TIE defender II The TIE defender II is an upgraded model of the original TIE defender model. The upgraded version has better sensory equipment, multiple shield generators, and better weaponry. The Defender II mounts considerable firepower in the form of automatic laser cannons which allow it to engage multiple enemies at once. Efficient manuevering thrusters are housed in the three odd shaped solar panels which give the Defender manuverability on par with the New Republic's E-Wing starfighter.

TIE Phantom Mk2 The TIE Phantom2 is the top-of-the-line imperial interceptor starfighter developed for the Empire by Sienar Fleet Systems. It has a winning combination of firepower, speed, and manueverability. Not to mention a hyperdrive and excellent shield systems.

TIE Striker The new TIE Striker is an advancment uppon the older TIE Bomber. With greater range than even the new TIE Bomber, the TIE Striker can hit a target from a greater range than any other TIE. Although sluggish and ill-shielded the TIE Striker has a larger squadron to help cover.

TIE Violence The newest and strongest TIE in the Empire is the TIE Violence. This TIE is named for what it is most skilled in creating, violence and mayhem. Armed with multiple heavy proton torpedoes, extremely powerful lasers, and weak but long reaching ion guns the Violence can quickly turn most ships to waste without much trouble. But the ship is still farily easily destroyed by faster, more agile ships that can avoid the guns of the Violence.
