On board Admiral Hunter's flagship, the mood is taught with tension as the loss of the Hope of Freedom is reported.

The New Republic fleet can only watch as life pods are picked off by the warlord's forces.

OOC: Wait, WHAT?!?! There's no mention anywhere that I know of that even hints at Zsinj's forces shooting at lifepods! Of course that's because most ship losses (except for the Lancer-class killed in Rogue Squadron) are assumed to be with all hands...

OOC: One of the warlord's officers decided to take matters into his crew's hands, despite orders.

OOC: Ah... I trust that fool will be dead shortly and a formal apology sent to the New Republic for the incident?
IC: Admiral Hunter is most assuredly not a happy camper as he watches the lifepods be destroyed.

OOC: Oh yes.
IC: Commander Raz draws his sidearm and kills Captain Dornn for ordering the deaths of those in the life pods. Only a third of the crew sides with the now late Captain, and are dealt with swiftly.

When Zsinj receives the message about what the ship's now deceased former captain had done, he is understandably furious, and decides to broadcast his fury across his fleet to prevent any further such occurrances. New Republic Intelligence gets the entire transmission, as Zsinj intended them to. "Nice to know that there's a line Zsinj won't cross, Admiral," says Commander Ilex after viewing the transmission.

An out of control X-Wing slams into a nearby Orbital Nightcloak and a strange energy build-up rips open a rift in time and space to an alternate timeline in which the Empire was dismantled (officially) and those that remained loyal to Imperial ideals fled to the Unknown Regions to create the First order. An Elite First Order TIE fighter rockets out of the rift into the middle of the battle.

OOC: I was thinking more along the lines of Ninth Fleet winding up in D'Qar orbit right around the time the Hosnian System is wiped off the Galaxy Map by the First Order... courtesy of the rift. Also, canon doesn't say whether or not there were warlords or if the New Republic ever took Coruscant (I tend to think they'd have to take Coruscant before they could set up the peripatetic capital schtick they had going), so who's to say we're not in canon (with Jakku happening at the same time Zsinj gets his just desserts in the Dathomir System, with Ninth Fleet joining Prince Isolder's Hapan fleet in dealing with Zsinj). Am I making sense here?

OOC: Sounds good.
IC: As soon as this new TIE fighter emerges from the rift, a strong pull starts to come from the rift, pulling in New Republic and Imperial forces. The majority of the Ninth Fleet and the remainder of the 198th Battle Fleet (aka Starkiller's Might) emerge in the same sector of space alongside Imperial ships loyal to Zsinj. But things are different, though there are TIE Fighters screaming about, they are painted black, with translucent gray solar panels. And unfamiliar X-Wing model slams into the bridge of the Mon Cal star cruiser Starkiller's Pride, triggering a blast door to shut the mangled bridge off from the rest of the ship. Marcus and his wife Ivanova had been en-route to the bridge when this happened and had been flung clear as the blast door slammed shut.
"This is General Starkiller to damage control! Bring the secondary bridge online ASAP!" The agitated red fox barks over his wrist comlink.

Admiral Hunter quickly orders his fighters into a defensive screen around Ninth Fleet and Marcus Starkiller's force. "What the FRAK is going on here?!?" he roars over the open link.
OOC: Are we in the Starkiller Base system?

OOC: Yes, we are in the Starkiller Base system.
IC: Marcus gets a look at an ominous looking planet that has been converted into what looks to be a weapon. "I have an extremely bad feeling about this..."

"I... don't disagree with you," Admiral Hunter replies. Turning to his Astrogator, he asks, "Can you give us a course out of here before we're overwhelmed?"

"DAMMIT!" Admiral Hunter swears. "We need those systems online!"
OOC: It just hit me, the T-70 that slammed into Starkiller's Pride must be flown by the Resistance's recon expert... I do hope he survived...

"We have an unfamiliar com coming in from a formation of what appear to be X-Wings. They are attacking that thing." a communications officer states. "They say they are the Resistance. I guess having the Rebel alliance logo painted on the hull was a good idea. Anyway, they request help."

"Well, well," Admiral Hunter chortles. "Tasha, send three squadrons of Defenders and another three of Interceptors to help them."
"Aye, aye, Sir!" Lt. Commander Fetladral snaps before turning her attention back to her station and giving the orders.

General Starkiller and his wife are about to head to the main hangar when someone points out they are needed to command the ship as the rest of the command staff died when the main bridge was lost.
"Fine, launch Raptor Squadron without us." Marcus orders. "Launch all the fighters we have and get those two Skiprays into the fight as well!"
