Three years later, the Republic has fallen and been replaced by the Galactic Empire; the Jedi Order has been destroyed by Order 66, and an environment of fear pervades the district of what is now known as Imperial Center where Kari lives and maintains her shop.

Haruhi has escaped Order 66 by leaving the Jedi Order a month before that dreadful order was given. She has found her way to Coruscant to find her cousin Kari. After procuring a doctored ID card and other documents, she stops in Kari's shop without contacting Kari before have.
"Hello? Is anyone there? Kari?" Haruhi speaks in a somewhat nervous tone.

“Haruhi, if that’s you, you’re taking a lethal risk,” Kari says from her cover. Now that Haruhi’s actually looking, she spots her cousin’s DL-50 blaster aimed directly between her eyes.

"I'm not here to stay." Haruhi states. "I just wanted you to have something. Before Master Tygart was finally tracked down and killed by the Empire, he entrusted me with bringing this to you."
The fugitive Jedi takes off the backpack that she has with her and opens it. After pressing on something in the pack, a small disk-shaped maintenance droid hovers out into the open.
"Master Tygart liberated that droid from a pirate group during the Clone Wars and kept it on made to work on his starfighter." Haruhi continues. "Dek-96... meet your new master."
The disk like droid bobs in the air and emits several beeps and whistles.
