OOC: The local Moff, on the other hand, might want to do something about it, assuming he hasn't been captured, or otherwise distracted (maybe Dholen was frakking his wife and he found out about it?)...

OOC: That could work. I'll let you write up the next post seeing as it is still your turn.

"Admiral, I seem to recall hearing a rumor that Dholen was cuckolding the local Moff," one of the junior officers remarks in the wardroom. "Any bets on us seeing that guy around Onderon anytime soon?"
"Don't jinx us!" Nova scolds the younger officer before Matt can respond.

"Admiral! An Imperial taskforce is jumping out of hyperspace right on top of us!" barks tactical officer Obrim over the intercom.

OOC: I suggest altering your post so that it's mentioned that the message is being passed on over the intercom. My response will assume that this is the case.
IC: "So much for lunch," Matt mutters, heading for the bridge.

"Sir, the taskforce is breaking into two groups... one is headed for the New Republic fleet, while the other is headed for us!" states Obrim.

"Communications, open a channel to the Imperial fleet and inform them that Vice Admiral Dholen has been executed by hanging for war crimes commited in the Onderon System," Matt orders once he's on the bridge.
"Yes, sir," the communications officer replies.

"They refuse to answer us, sir." says Nova as the taskforce opens fire on both fleets.
Nova is knocked off her feet by an exploding control panel. The panel lodges pieces of itself in Nova's right arm.

"That does it!" Matt snarls. "Tell the fleet to destroy them!"
"Yessir!" the Communications Officer replies
"Medic to the bridge!" the Flight Control Officer shouts over the 1MC (shipwide intercom).
OOC: Methinks Matt got caught off guard and that Obrim should have simply hit the GQ (General Quarters) alarm instead of calling the Admiral, that way Nova would have been in Damage Control Central, her assigned battlestation.

Matt turns in his command chair to glare at Obrim. "When this battle is finished, I expect to see you in my office within the hour so that we may discuss your dereliction of duty, Lieutenant..." he growls. "By my reckoning, we should have already been at battlestations by the time the enemy was within firing range, not sitting here all fat, dumb, and happy like a nerf to the slaughter!"
OOC: Is it just me, or is Matt PO'ed?

"I'm sorry, Admiral." says Obrim. "As you well know, I am new to the Warrior and am still getting used to things."

OOC: Just out of the Academy and assigned as TO to an SSD? I find that very unlikely. He'd more likely be one of the SLJOs (Sh*tty Little Jobs Officers), or learning the ropes of running a real department under some very experienced noncoms and officers...

OOC: I'll have another officer make the point in character.
"Standard Operating Procedure, Lieutenant Obrim," the Communications Officer says. "As Officer Of the Deck, you should have at least called General Quarters, if not Battle Stations. Ignorance of SOP is not an excuse, because you got the same briefing on SOP that I got when I arrived. I should know, I gave it to you."

Matt mutters something that sounded like "Oh, you're gonna be sorry when I get through with you" but maybe not.
OOC: Sorry 'bout that, Marcus, but I felt a sudden urge to channel David Drake and Eric Flint's Belisarius series (especially how they wrote Valentinian, who's almost always muttering something, often obscene, regarding the current situation).
